The Midlands Lean Alliance is
a
membership-based
group of Columbia- area
manufacturing
companies that share
best practices in
Lean techniques and
principles by opening
their plants to each
other to study and learn
how to more effectively
implement Lean tools.
The
alliance holds monthly “events” at
the member plants, typically observing
Lean
techniques at the host plant. After visiting the host plant's shop floor, a group
discussion is facilitated to
identify strengths observed
during the tour as well as
opportunities for improvement. This discussion
gives the host plant valuable objective
feedback.
Special events are also held such
as seminars and chartered tours
of best-practice manufacturers.
Members are required to pay dues, host an event about once a year, and participate in SCMEP's annual survey administered by NIST.
The alliance is sponsored by SCMEP and Midlands Tech, and coordinated by Chris Klasing. For
more information, contact Chris Klasing
at jckassoc@bellsouth.net or Tim Sinclair at
